Pic of the day - Crazing

I wanted a pic of crazing for a blogpost, and it is usually simplest to use your own pics. It took me two days of hunting online before I remembered my new teapot has crazing! Isn't it gorgeous?

Pic of the day - And I wasn't even tempted …

On the other hand, I did eat a rather larger lunch than usual, so this might not be a show of willpower. ;)

Pic of the day - Unexpected

There is a lot of summer construction going on, complete with traffic jams and bus detours. Each day, I don't know how or when I'm going to get to work. Today, the same bus on detour that dropped me off last Friday only two blocks from my office, went right past the same stop and several blocks onward, dropping our sizable contingent on the far side of the hospital. I was not a happy camper, but … I was mollified somewhat by a planting clustering several bushes of these beauties.

Pic of the day - Gluten Free Rhubarb Lemon Bundt Cake

It tastes as good as it looks. A real keeper. Found the recipe at Celiac Kid, and modified a fair amount.

Pic of the Day - PGen

I'm pretty excited and nervous about participating in the PGen study. Blogging about it at http://pgenpt.wordpress.com/ . Sent in my sample today. Friend who gave me a ride is a lawyer, has concerns. I took notes, will blog about them.

Pic of the day - Golden Beets

They are so beautiful I almost want to cry. I am making pickled beets in separate batches of red and gold. This morning when I left, the reds were almost purple, and the golds looked like this. By the time I came home, the golds were all bleached out. Ok, well, I won't do that again!

Pic of the day - A Scent called Library

If I was reading the title without the image, my mind would instantly be sucked back through time and space, into a flurry of images and scents and sounds and tactile memories. Leather bindings dissolving into orange dust on my hands. The delicate cracking of brittle pages being cautiously turned. The cloud of dust arising from pulling a book from a shelf that has not been moved in years, perhaps decades. The warming glow of late afternoon sunlight spilling at a sharp angle into the second floor of the old Dentistry Library. This very faintly scented "perfume" (from CBIHatePerfrume.com) is designed to be reminiscent of these things. But someone put a bouquet of fresh flowers on the Circulation Desk.

Pic of the day - Blade-edged leaves, bleeding sun

You would almost think this picture was taken in Fall, because of the colors.

Pic of the day - Making Pansy Syrup

They were selling pansy blossoms at the Frog Holler booth in the Farmers Market. I put some in my quiche, some in salad… but there were just too many! And they are so special, I didn't want them to go to waste. I dug out my Flower Cookery cookbook, and hunted for a recipe that would use them up, but which would be fast to make. Eh, voilà! Pansy syrup, in progress.

Pic of the day - The Dancer

Cropped close, dark hair spikes and floats.
Red silk spirals and rises,
ripples.
There! A glimpse of legs.
